LAD #5 Federalist #10

1. Why are factions so difficult to eliminate?

Factions are difficult to eliminate because they are created by people of similar political and religious viewpoints or by people who live in the same region. Since the people have some sort of bond, it is hard to break up these long established factions.

2. If factions cannot be removed how can they be controlled?

Madison argued that if a Reublican type of government was adopted, rather than a Democracy, that the factions could be controlled. A republic could also govern larger regions which would be needed for the United States large amount of land and diverse cultures.
